Well, not exactly. From my teenage son Ben. My immediate family is going through a very difficult time at the moment. And my 18-year old son came up with this little gem recently, seemingly out of nowhere. I often marvel at the clarity and maturity of his thinking.
“When you live in a world of pre-set expectations and ideas, you deny yourself the opportunity to renew and re-invent yourself.”
Much wisdom in those words!
Wow! That IS a great insight! Sending some love your way as your family renews and re-invents during this difficult time…
Thank you…
What a profound thought from someone so young. I hope your family makes it through this difficult time stronger than ever.

Add a little mojo to your evening! 🙂
He shows us a depth of wisdom that is timeless, ageless. How wonderful!
May you and your family find strength as trees do from deep roots, and inspiration as leaves reach up to the skies. Thinking of you and sending love and light. Gina
Thank you Gina…we need as much of it as we can get right now.
Your son is wise, Jonathan.
When I was a boy, we moved a lot- never more than two or three years in one place. It was difficult, especially in my teenage years. But looking back, I realized that the great gift of those moves was my ability precisely to shed whatever persona and expectations that others had put on me in the old place and to start again in the new place.
The trick is to hold on to what your son knows. That is, the reinvention doesn’t demand a change of place. Your sense of self belongs to you. You alone must decide who you are, wherever you are.
I hope those difficult times have been navigated.
Sending strong thoughts.
Tom
